Veritus Miller is an emerging jazz pianist, composer, and arranger from Los Angeles, California. He’s a charismatic old soul who captivates audiences with ear-candy melodies and compositions that pay homage to traditional jazz with the energy of the new generation. A prime example is in his musical debut with his song “Days With You Are Beautiful, described as “a frenetic yet tightly paced epic” (Hodges, KCRW). His music is a melting pot of black music, coming as a direct result of his upbringing. He grew up in a very creative family with a legendary pedagogy. To name a few, his grandmother is the world-renowned choreographer Lula Washington, and his cousin is the modern jazz giant Kamasi Washington, with whom he frequently collaborates. He is usually found in Leimert Park, a place he claims “gave a jumpstart” to his musical career. He opened the 2023 Leimert Park Jazz Festival alongside Keyon Harrold, Gerald Clayton, Carmen Lundy, and Poncho Sanchez. Then he hosted a 4-month residency at Ora Energy (Formerly Hot & Cool Cafe). Other artists hes worked with include Ryan Porter, Jaz Karis, Lil John Roberts, and was featured in Shae Universe’s Tiny Desk Performance (2024). He also supported Stevie Wonder with the UCLA Herb Alpert band (2024). Veritus Miller’s mission is to uplift themes of love, authenticity, optimism, and truth. With the release of his 2nd single, “The In Between,” and its cinematic music video directed by Vin Bains, he is undoubtedly carving a unique path into the current state of Jazz music.
